Mercado de Hechiceria (Witches market)

Called the Witches Market because here you can find all manner of ritual and mystical craft as part of traditional Aymaran culture.  Everything from colorful textiles and handicrafts to exotic herbal remedies, protective talismans, incense, offerings to various spirits-- even tried llama fetuses!  I didn’t see the llama fetuses myself, but when buried by the house it is believed that they bring good luck and appease the gods of daily living.  I loved walking around and admiring the intricacy and artistry of all textiles and crafts for sale- see photos.  The market is nearby Iglesia de San Francisco (beautiful colonial church built in the late 1700s, now museum).
